Water’s Edge

Sunrise just around the corner from Bar Harbor, ME, at our Acadia National Park workshop. Lots of fantastic scenes were shot by our participants that morning.

Technique And Composition:

There are a number of things working together in this scene, which makes it more compelling for the viewer to look at.

The rock lines work their way nicely to the water line, and the water line meets up with the sky nicely. All of these sections lend themselves well to a horizontal division of thirds. Also was careful to anchor the two bottom corners so that they lead the viewer’s eye where I want it to go.

There is a diagonal working across the image as well, and that includes a very subtle s-curve in it.
