Overhead Light

Just outside of Blanding, UT is the area of Cedar Mesa. There is an untold number of ruins out there and some of them have been lovingly restored. This ancient Indian Kiva is one of them. Couid have stayed here and shot all day, but then I would have missed sunset. Oh the dilemas we face.

When I came upon this scene, I was immediately drawn to the tightness of the chamber and the way that all four corners of the walls were nicely converging into the center.

I also made specific not of the diagonal that was present in the scene and made sure that I worked that into my composition.

As I envisioned this scene drawing viewers into the center and depth of the scene, focus stacking was used to maintain sharpness throughout that line from front to back. This is a composite of six frames, stacked upon one another.”
