A Shot A Day – 2018(LMM) (03/09/2018)

Heavenly Sunrise
By far one of the most beautiful sunrises I have ever seen, can be found at Mesa Arch, Canyonlands National Park. Known for its amazing glow, it’s a spectacle not to be missed. From our recent Arches National Park workshop.

A Shot A Day – 2018(LMM) (068A of 365)-(09-03)
CAMERA:
Canon 5D MarkIV
LENS:
Canon EF 11-24mm f/4.0L USM
ACCESSORIES:
Really Right Stuff L-Bracket,
Really Right Stuff Series 3 Tripod
EXPOSURE SETTING:
ISO 100, 1/30 (-1.3) @ f/16.0 – 11mm
Technique And Composition:
This scene naturally has a dynamic range concern, as we would expect from almost any shot where we are facing the sun. Accordingly I recorded this image as a high dynamic range (HDR) sequenece.
The clouds and the ends of the stone arches serve as my anchoring points for the four corners of my frame.
Shooting at an aperture of f/16 ensured that I get a nice star pattern on the sun flare.
