Technique And Composition:

Most mornings, at our workshops, we get up and out early. This morning was no exception and we found an ideal sunrise location. Can’t say I was moving too quickly, kind of just soaking in the scene.

The mountains, the fog, the brisk morning air, and the quietness all made life feel like it was standing still. The composition just came to me, as all the elements in the scene aligned on their own.

For me, I was witnessing someone doing exactly what I was doing, chasing their dream. In his chasing his perfect vision, he ended up being a part of mine. I chose to align the peninsula of land as a diagonal in the frame. There is an additional diagonal working in from the sun rays and the subject is nicely aligned on a thirds line. The mountains balance out the frame and provide the remaining leading lines to finish off the frame.
