A Shot A Day – 2016 (01/15/2016)
One can easily envision the iconic Mrs. Butterworth syrup bottle in the middle of this throwback style light bulb.
Sony Alpha A7RII, Sony FE 70-200 f/4.0 G OSS
ISO 3200 – 1/5000 @ f/4.0 – 159mm
I’ll freely admit that, I did not see the Mrs. Butterworth shape, in the light, prior to shooting the image. That was definitely a realization in the post-production phase.
Taking the original shot involved overriding the meter reading and underexposing by about a full stop. This under exposure provided the benefit of not burning out, or clipping the highlights, in the bulb filaments.
Even though it is not prominent in the final image (which I suppose is the point) I spent a little bit of time making sure that I carefully aligned the brick wall, in the background of this shot. Keeping away from using the sky as the background provided the image with a darker, moodier look.
One post-shoot observation, for future reference, I had my ISO way higher than it needed to be for this shot. Lucky for me the Sony A7RII deals with higher ISOs fairly well.
