Welcome To The Forums…
I think this is an excellent idea. I have looked at pictures of this mill on the internet in the past year and thought it would make for an ideal field trip.
Would be great to see if we can put a group “purchase” together and see if we can get the place to ourselves. Ideally turn the trip into a weekend trek and add some additional stops in along the way. If I am correct, this may not be to far from the Frank Lloyd Wright – Falling Water property. Could make for an excellent architecture based road trip.
I will contact the owner and see what can be set up…
Looking to see if there is any interest in going to this location. The info below is what I have for contact … about 4 1/2 hr drive.
The Klotz Silk Mill in Lonaconing, Maryland is every urbex photographer’s dream, having been sealed, as is, since 1957. Anyone can now gain legal entry to this American industrial time capsule at just $100 for a 4 hour shoot. Any time. The money supports preservation of this last intact silk mill left in America, which is privately owned and, only in the past ten years, opened to photographers. To get your own time in there, it’s a simple as making arrangements with 80 year old owner, Herb Crawford, at 301-268-1168 or 301-689-3034.
here is a link on facebook for pics
