Columbia River Gorge
Columbia River Gorge is a canyon of the Columbia River in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. The canyon marks the state line between Oregon and Washington and stretches for over 80 miles. The Columbia River Gorge encompasses 292,500 acres, running from the mouth of the Sandy River to the mouth of the Deschutes River. The gorge holds federally protected status as a National Scenic Area and is known for its high concentration of waterfalls, with over 90 on the Oregon side of the Gorge.
Columbia River Gorge creates a diverse collection of ecosystems from the temperate rain forest on the western end to the eastern grasslands. These types of ecosystems have allowed for many species of endemic plants and animals to prosper.
