Morning Bend

Not the easiest place to shoot from, but a perfect morning, with ideal light and a really groovy composition.

CAMERA:

Canon 5D MarkIV

LENS:

Tamron SO 24-70mm f/2.8

ACCESSORIES:

Really Right Stuff L-Bracket,
Really Right Stuff Series 3 Tripod

EXPOSURE SETTING:

ISO 100 , 2″” (+2.3) @ f/8.0 – 24 mm

Technique And Composition:

We worked hard to get this point of view local back at downtown Pittsburgh from across the river. Getting there in the dark was not exactly a walk in the park, in fact there was no park.

The framing here is a little non-traditional, in that it is clearly waited and leading from one side (the left) towards the right side. The leading lines of the foreground bridge are ideal, as they not only provide a pull into the background layer, but they also provide and entrance and exit point for the viewer’s eyes.

The histogram made it clear to me, that I need some serious exposure compensation, so I dialed in +2.3 stops of light.
