“Rushing By”

At our Banff National Park Workshop, we stopped and shot at this waterfall. A little hiking put us at the perfect spot to get this image.

Technique And Composition:

Waterfalls always represent challenges to the photographer. While they are visually compelling it can be hard to get just the right angle and even just the right exposure.

In framing up this scene I made sure that I maintained the angle all the way, diagonally across the frame. I was fortunate that this waterfall fit in nicely that way. There are strong intersections throughout the image and that helps the composition as well.

As there was a large volume of water, I kept my shutter speed up so as not to introduce to much “”long exposure”” white to the frame.
