“Behind Door Number Two”

Another image from the Ariel-Foundation Park shoot. One of the cool things that they have done at the park is leave small segments of the original manufacturing plant in place. Not enough to be distracting, yet just enough to fit well within the overall design of the park.

I was really interested in both the framing of the elevator doorway in the scene, but also the contrast between the old brick and the existing structure and that of the new “external” structure they have put in place to maintain the integrity of the original walls and building construction.

April, in the Smokies, is a magical time to be photographing in the area. The forest floors are carpeted with wildflowers, the forest canopy itself is freshly new with lush tones of green and the streams and waterfalls are burgeoning with peak water levels for the year, yielding stunning opportunities for long exposure imaging. Both the Dogwoods and Red Buds should be in bloom at this time and the wildlife opportunities Will be heightened as well, with deer, coyote, wild turkeys and black bears being commonly sited throughout the month.
